Home to a vibrant South Surrey shopping district, including The Shops at Morgan Crossing and Grandview Corners, the neighbourhood of Grandview offers a family-friendly atmosphere with a choice of multi-family developments and private country lots.
If you’re looking to live close to the heart of an urban village retail space inspired by the design of walkable European towns, Grandview surely has a home with your address on it!
The Royal City Planing Mills (RCPM) established an operation east of Elgin near the Nicomekl River to log the areas south of the Kensington Prairie. In 1886, a logging railway was built east through Grandview Heights. At the west end of the line, logs were dumped into a ditch and floated into the Nicomekl River. In 1886, the RCPM bought the famous steam locomotive "Old Curly" from the CPR. Originally a part of the San Francisco seawall construction project, the locomotive hauled timber along the logging railway and stayed in use in Surrey until 1894.
When the New Westminster and Southern Railway was completed in 1891, the logging railway was extended to join it at a point east of Hall's Prairie Road. Consequently, the Nicomekl River was abandoned and the logs were railed to Port Kells and boomed in the Fraser.
The area remained sparsely populated for quite some time until the Morgan Crossing Development brought new life to the area, for which it won a Georgie Award for Best Multi-Family Low Rise Development in 2011.
Grandview offers a wide range of housing types for singles, families, and seniors. It is a mixed-use neighbourhood with a pedestrian-friendly, high-quality urban realm, featuring a variety of local trail systems and a carefully considered urban design. In addition, Grandview offers excellent investment lots for future development.
